Welcome!

Welcome to my blog and thank you for taking the time to stop by.

I’m both a foodie and a news junkie,  living in the state with the first Presidential primary, so combining food with politics makes perfect sense to me.  The focus here is more on food and cooking, but as the primary gets closer and we’re tripping over candidates….

If you like recipes that don’t use cream of mushroom soup, pull up a chair. I’m a scratch cook and baker, and took the Pastry and Baking Intensives at The Institute of Culinary Education (formerly Peter Kump’s) when I lived in New York. The program director is the fabulous Nick Malgieri, and if you’re new to baking, his book, How to Bake, is a great place to start.

My SO is the only man I know with more cookbooks than I have. We love Sundays in the kitchen (after Meet the Press), trying new recipes or doing cook aheads or both. I can only dream of having his knife skills; he goes chop-chop-chop-chop-chop. I go chop. Chop. Chop. Count fingers and thumbs. Chop. Chop. Count again.

However, I beat him hands down when it comes to baking or making “our” brisket .

Again, welcome to my little world. Our official State Motto is Live Free or Die but the unofficial motto is Don’t You Try Messin’ With Our Primary. State Bumper Sticker: Live, Freeze, and Die.

Hi Ella, I love this site. Your stories are wonderful, and although I’ve only read a few, I intend to come back and read them all.

Thanks for sharing your site with us!
