In yesterday’s post, when I hastily scampered away from mentioning The Everly Brothers, did I think the blog police would show up and confiscate what little HTML I know for violating my (self-imposed) parameters? I guess I’m the blog police here, and just to keep myself on the straight and narrow, Don Everly (dark hair) loves to cook and learned at his mother’s side. He’s also quite an oenophile. Politics? He’s liberal, Phil’s conservative.
So here’s a clip of The Everlys. It doesn’t say so at YouTube, but I’ve become enough of a fan to know this is from their Reunion Concert at The Albert Hall in London in September, 1983. They hadn’t spoken to each other in ten years. It’s fun to see how they look when they got older matured, and the harmonies remain pure and impeccable. They still perform, in fact there’s another clip of them at YouTube from November, 2005 singing a gorgeous version of Sam Cooke’s You Send Me. (Yes, there’s one wince-inducing off note at the beginning, but by 2005 they were much older more mature.) Click twice and enjoy the clip.
