on May 13th, 2007Cartoon of the week - 5/13
Those of us who appreciate political and editorial cartoons are lucky to have any left to appreciate. They’re an endangered species, being killed off by newspapers.
This week, rather than point you to a cartoon, I’m linking to an article about what is happening to this art form and why. It was in CJRDaily, the online Columbia Journalism Review, on Friday.

My darling heartily agrees! (((((HUGS))))) sandi
Darling is on the right side of this issue!
It is a sign of the times for print media.
Newspapers and mags, are being set up to run lean in these times of online content. The print media is far back on the curve, and does not show any signs of recuperating. They are also doing away with book reviewers, and travel reviewers. Good news is that the internet is opening up new opportunities for these folks. I personally do not read the paper anymore ( I read all my news online and I hate the newsprint ink on my hands) but we still get it because my wife likes to get the coupons from the grocery store when she goes shopping.
Oh, I still love newspapers but I’m distressed by what’s happening and has been for a while. The situation with book reviews is dire, IMO…more dumbing down of our culture.
