We don’t try to hide what these are. When consumers go to other fast-food places they feel like they’ve got to buy two of their breakfast sandwiches or burritos to fill up. This is really designed to fill you up.”
I’ll say. The quote is from Brad Haley, marketing chief of the Hardee’s fast-food chain, which has introduced a breakfast burrito that has 60 grams of fat (23 g saturated fat), 500 mg of cholesterol and 1,970 mg of sodium. To say nothing of those 920 calories.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest calls the burrito, “Another lousy invention by a fast-food company.”
The Country Breakfast Burrito is made up of two omelets with sausage, ham, bacon bits, cheddar, hash rounds and gravy. It doesn’t even look appetizing – I guess the white stuff is the gravy — and the nutrition information at Hardees’s website is a real jaw-dropper.
The burrito is priced at $2.69 on its own or $4.09 for a combo — combo! — which includes coffee and more hash rounds, just in case the five in the burrito aren’t enough.
And I’ve been worried about butter in pie crust?

So what would induce a company to bring out such a product in our seemingly weight conscious times?
Rhbee - the simple answer is money
I think you’re right, Rambler. I can’t imagine any company would introduce a new product without suspecting or knowing there’s a market for it.
Oops. Just got back from Boulder where I had a devine breakfast of Pappas Fritas — layer of hash browns covered in green chili, melted cheese, and topped off with two fried eggs and served with a warm flour torilla on the side with some guacomole. I guess a used up a couple of my Weight Watchers points on that one. . .
Even without knowing much about the points system, I have a feeling you used them up until November, LOL.
