Cartoon of the week – 10/28

October 28, 2007

in cartoon of the week

You’ve no doubt noticed the dollar’s in the dumpster. Among other things, it means no more Canadian bargains for us; as of last night, according to Yahoo’s currency converter, 1 Canadian dollar was worth just under $1.04 US.

But many Canadians are angry over one aspect of this and with good reason. You know those dual prices on books, magazines, even greeting cards? For instance, the new Cook’s Illustrated is marked $5.95 – Canada: $6.95. But Canadians still have to pay the higher price and a lot of stores are refusing to take US dollars. (My greenbacks were happily accepted when the Canadian dollar was worth about 67 US cents.)

Cam Cardow of The Ottawa Citizen probably spoke for millions on Thursday.
