While I am not a fan of Republican Mitt Romney’s positions — no matter how often they change — I always get angry when the subject of his religion resurfaces, as it did again this week. Aren’t we, as a nation, beyond this yet? Mike Ramirez of Investor’s Business Daily wondered the same thing on Tuesday in the New York Post.

Maybe if the politicos would stop playing to the crowd and start thinking about governing without prejudice this cartoon wouldn’t be needed. But they won’t because the common thought driving all of this talk about religion, immigration, healthcare, and drugs is to buy the voters not with real solutions but with popular ones. It is why Hillary stumbled over the license plates. She wasn’t sure what the voters in that area wanted to hear. Meanwhile, all I got from Romney’s speech was a reminder that just like Bush before him, he will do exactly as he pleases if he becomes the president. It’s not a new idea, hell, presidents have been doing it since before Andrew Jackson. Yes, it’s one nation under god, all right. As long as we realize that the god they are talking about is themselves in power.
I am probably a cynic, but I don’t think politicans will ever stop playing to the crowd, especially since the crowds are focus groups now.
And to the victor goes the spoils and the bully pulpit ..
