Huckabee takes Iowa

January 3, 2008

in GOP, politics

Republican Mike Huckabee was projected the winner of his party’s Iowa caucuses not quite one hour after the process began. Huckabee ran a God-centric campaign in a state with many evangelicals. It’s a different electorate here in New Hampshire, where the first-in-the-nation primary will be held January 8.

Huckabee has spent only about $30,000 to advertise in New Hampshire, some of that for his widely-discussed Christmas ad, which was still running a few hours ago.

Latest polls indicate John McCain maintains his recent strength in New Hampshire, a state he swept in 2000, only to stumble in South Carolina.
