Cartoon of the week – 4/13

April 13, 2008

in cartoon of the week

Actor Charlton Heston died last week. He was 84. Millions know him for epic roles such as Moses and Ben Hur, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Like his fellow actor, Ronald Reagan, Heston’s politics shifted right. Even though he was an early advocate of civil rights, he is most remembered for his later-in-life conservatism and support of the National Rifle Association. He was its president from 1998 to 2003.

That’s the epic role Pat Bagley of the Salt Lake Tribune sketched on Tuesday.
