It’s one thing for John McCain to conveniently overlook his new running mate’s fondness for pork-barrel federal handouts, called earmarks, even though his opposition to them is fierce and a central theme of his campaign. But this is politics at its most hypocritical.
The Los Angeles Times has discovered McCain criticized Sarah Palin three times when she was mayor of Wasilla, AK for her requests for $2 million in earmarks. One was for a communications center that local law enforcement said was redundant.
Now, of course, as his vice presidential candidate, he calls her a reformer. Just like him.
Last Friday she touted her rejection of federal funds for what she herself called “the bridge to nowhere,” never mentioning that she was for the much-ridiculed project before she was against it.
How convenient.

Too funny! This says an awful lot about McCain’s judgment, doesn’t it?
vjp’s last blog post..Former Hillary supporters say no to Palin
It certainly does. I think I’ve spent more time deciding what to wear on a first date than he spent choosing Palin.
And did you notice last night she again bragged about the bridge to nowhere as if she’d always been for it? What a smug and sarcastic speech that was. And the base loved it. Go figure.
