Those beans are far tastier than that pathetic photo makes them look. If you and the gang like them half as much as I do, you'll be quite happy indeed. Roasted veggies are just amazing. Please let me know how you like them -- and full props for taking a pass on that casserole and the little onion-flavored chemical bombs on top. Every time people tell me they love that dish, I ask them how often they make it during the rest of the year. The answer is usually, "um....um...." ;) Aren’t you a sweetheart, Muse! I mentioned I was to attend a Thanksgiving potluck, and would rely on you for something simple to make. Well, I then was requested to bring green beans! I will not bring "that casserole" to which you refer <a href="http://foodpluspolitics.com/2007/11/15/about-that-casserole/" rel="nofollow">here</a>, in spite of having grown up with it. I'm not crazy about the mushroom soup involved, but the deal breaker for me is those canned french-fried onions! The grease and chemicals involved there make me shudder. I typed "green beans" into your search box, knowing you wouldn't let me down, and while your alternative to the semi-traditional casserole is much better, I also found <a href="http://foodpluspolitics.com/2008/04/15/roasted-sesame-green-beans/" rel="nofollow">this</a>! Bingo, just what I was looking for. The gang I'll be with are sort of "enlightened-veg-fusion", and this will be something a little different. They'll love it, as will I. It's such a huge meal that usually has so much stress of tradition attached. I didn't host last year, although I did the baking, and I didn't miss it. I'm still trying to worm out of this year. ;) Something you might consider for the potluck is the <a href=http://foodpluspolitics.com/2007/11/21/citrus-cranberry-sauce/ rel="nofollow">Citrus cranberry sauce</a> I posted last year. It's mega-tasty and can be made the night before. Even the night before that. Best thing about a pot luck is your fridge isn't the one stuffed with leftovers! Hi, Muse!
