As you probably know, Linens ‘n’ Things is going out of business with significant discounts on remaining merchandise. Their website is still offering Cuisinart stand mixers, which have surpassed KitchenAid in Cook’s Illustrated’s equipment tests and are rated #1. I fell in love with these the moment I saw them.
The 7-quart model in the photo is now $319.99, down from $399.99 and the 5.5-quart is $239.99 instead of $299.99. All sales are final, no returns. Update 11/22: Only the 5.5 is left, for $224.99.
If I didn’t have two KitchenAid mixers and a host of accessories I’d have gotten a Cuisinart last year. The dough hook alone, a much closer relative of those in commercial bakeries, makes it well worth investigating for bread makers. The countdown timer, 3-year warranty (KitchenAid’s is one year) and exceptional performance are enviable.
