Just another week in Illinois politics: post bail, go to the office.
Democratic Governor Rod “Helmet Hair” Blagojevich and his deleted expletives entered our lives with news he was willing to sell President-elect Obama’s vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder. Even in Chicago (”vote early and often”) his stupidity and corruption raised a stink.
If Blago does time — and if he doesn’t, there might be hell to pay — he would be the fourth Illinois governor to go to the slammer in just the past 35 years, the most recent being his immediate predecessor, Republican George Ryan, who’s still behind bars for bribery.
Bruce Plante of the Tulsa World summed it up nicely on Wednesday.
