Cartoon of the week – 2/8

February 8, 2009

in Barack Obama, Democrats, cartoon of the week, politics

Doesn’t anybody in Washington pay taxes? Who’s been vetting cabinet nominees and other prospective administration officials? Leona Helmsley’s ghost?

I love this week’s cartoon and its sharp satire. Refund, Line 3 on the form is my favorite. I have a sneaky feeling the cartoonist enjoyed MAD magazine when he was a kid as much as I did.

Very cute!

Love the new format . . . especially love the link layout —————————->
and the color (denim on cream). Very spiffy.

Also the MP3 ^ is very cool. Great sound quality!

Hi, Word. I’m glad you like them, especially the look. The theme was bare bones to allow maximum customization and every time I think I’m edging beyond the stage of knowing enough coding to be dangerous, I discover I’m wrong! I’m not quite done yet, but I need a break from that stuff.

Ah, Dion. I got a little carried away … :)

I too love the new look! You are very brave to dive into this yourself. I am learning slowly, but very slowly. I have a sort of test or practice blog, but I don’t think I’ll get into CSS bigtime. You never know, though.
This is the funnest tax return I’ve seen since the Clinton era:
LINE 1: [your income for the year]
LINE 2: [send it in]

MusEditions’s last blog post..I don’t care!

That 1040’s a hoot, isn’t it? I just love it.

Thanks for the kind words. I still want to make another header logo — I slapped this one together in a few minutes — and do something with the navigation tabs. Some was very easy but some challenged me. There is no preview CSS function in the self-hosted version of the Wordpress engine, so it’s cross your fingers time. I did the tricky ones in the middle of the night in case something went horribly wrong. Whew, nothing did!

I love it. Do you know what the minimum sentence is for financial fraud here in the UK?

“Er, apologies, Your Honour. I seem to have (ahem) committted a small error of personal judgement.”

HA! Well put. I loved Judd Gregg’s line when he pulled out for Commerce : nothing about the vetting process played any role in this decision. Translation: I paid my taxes.
