Only America’s wingnuts could love criminal-turned-radio talk show host G. Gordon Liddy. The Watergate burglar, a convicted felon, is a fellow wingnut and while that doesn’t automatically make him a birther, he is one of those crazies too.
Chris Matthews tried to pin him down about that on Hardball last night and it was an amazing exchange. It’s the quietest and calmest I’ve ever seen Matthews and Liddy looks as if he wet his pants.
About the grandmother’s quote, a commenter at Salon has said: As a part-time professional translator, I can spot the exact point where McRae’s interrogation of “Granny Sarah” goes off track. He asks “Was she present when he was born in Kenya?”
The question is rephrased in its Luo translation. Sarah understands the question as “Where you present here in Kenya when Barack was born?” Of course, she answers yes, because she was indeed there in Kenya when Obama was born in Hawaii.
But McRae only hears the answer that he was hoping to hear, and stops listening.
