Cartoon of the week – 8/23

I don’t know how they say “up yours” in Libya, but we saw how they show it. Despite a letter from Britian’s Prime Minister Brown to Qaddafi to act with sensitivity on the return of the Lockerbie bomber, he was flown home on one of Qaddafi’s personal jets and given a triumphant hero’s welcome.

So much for sensitivity.

He was released from a Scottish prison on grounds of compassion; he’s said to be dying. It was Scotland’s decision alone. The American and British governments are officially disgusted by Libya’s actions here; let’s not forget this man was convicted of killing 270 people.

Britain’s Foreign Secretary had said Libya’s handling of the release would be “…very significant in the way the world views Libya’s re-entry into the civilized community of nations.”  I’m not bound by the language of diplomacy so I will come right out and say it: like leopards, dicatatorial thugs don’t change their spots, whether in Libya, North Korea, Iran or anywhere else.
