Cartoon of the week – 12/20

December 20, 2009

in Democrats, GOP, cartoon of the week, politics

He’s the best senator money can buy, when the buyers are health insurance companies opposed to health care reform. They can always count on Connecticut’s Joe Lieberman to do their bidding. They paid for it, after all. The majority of his constituents who favor reform just don’t matter.

Lieberman, the Democrat-turned-Independent who’s a Republican at heart and best buds with Johnnie and his bud Lindsay, has taken more than $2.1 million in campaign contributions from the insurance industry and health professionals since 1989, according to public records. He can truly say, “Aetna, I’m glad I met ya.” The quid pro quo is so obvious a national watchdog group named Lieberman as its second Insurance Puppet.

But I think Dr. Suess put it best in How The Grinch Stole Christmas because, really, we’re all Whos now.

It could be that his head wasn’t screwed on quite right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

But,
Whatever the reason,
His heart or his shoes,
He stood there on Christmas Eve, hating the Whos…

Ah, the loverman, as his name translates. I surely hope we get through this health-care thingy soon, sheesh!
Both myself and my computer have been a bit disoriented lately; sorry I haven’t been by for a while.
I do hope all your limbs are functional, and that you have survived the snow you moved there to get away from! eek! ;)

Aw, Muse, I’m sorry you’ve been out of sorts. I did notice you haven’t posted lately. I’m flattered you stopped by during icky times. (How’s that for a vocab? sheesh!)

Loverman, eh? Then he’s clearly adopted. :D He just disgusts me. Unlike Bernie Sanders of VT, who became an Independent because he truly is and I wish we had 99 more just like him, this schmuck became an Independent because he was going down in flames for the D primary and once he finagled the switch, he had all that insurance company money in his war chest. I don’t care who runs against him in 2012, I will give money to every serious opponent in every party if I can. When I’m tempted to wonder what Gore was thinking when he picked him, I remind myself that Gore is as phony and opportunistic as this schmuck. I can’t stand either one of them. (”Oh, really, ella? I never would have known.”)

As for that 24 – 26″ of crap at my doorstep, we’re calling it “snOMG” and hoping for a customary, wet (as in rainy) Christmas!

Good to see you, and I hope everything turns around soon.
